Berlinale 2023 Reveals Its Contestants In The Programme Of Competition
Meanwhile the world of cinema is still waiting for the main awards to be handed for the last year's cinematographic achievements, Berlin is already preparing to receive new diverse, independent and daring works featured in Berlinale 2023, which is to start on February 16.
The festival's centerpiece is its Competition, which represents the best of the year's selection. Curated by the Artistic Director of Berlinale, Carlo Chatrian, the Competition features 18 titles. This year the Competition "aims to be open as possible to all cinematic forms. Animated films and documentary, comedy and melodrama, dramas and period films, films that rely on great performances or are driven by ‘natural’ actors, in each of the 18 titles one can hear a unique voice. And behind these important stories – even if tinged with a note of blue – the beauty of the world still resonates."
The International Jury chaired by the famous American actress and director Kristen Stewart will see the production represented by 19 countries, 15 films of which will be world premieres, three debuts in the programme of Competition and eight filmmakers already been in it before, six films directed by women. On February 25 we will all know who were worth of Golden and Silver Bears.
Here's the full programme of Competition. If you're in Berlin from February 16, don't miss an opportunity to experience the best of established auteur cinema from around the globe.
