2025 International Booker Prize Shortlist Announced

On April 8, the International Booker Prize announced its shortlist 2025. Six books were selected from 154 submitted by publishers - the highest number since the prize was launched in its current format in 2016.
2025 judging panel, chaired by bestselling Booker Prize-longlisted author Max Porter has chosen the following five novels and one collection of short stories for this year's International Booker Prize shortlist:
A Leopard-Skin Hat by Anne Serre (translated by Mark Hutchinson)
Heart Lamp by Banu Mushtaq (translated by Deepa Bhasthi)
Perfection by Vincenzo Latronico (translated by Sophie Hughes)
Under the Eye of the Big Bird by Hiromi Kawakami (translated by Asa Yoneda)
Small Boat by Vincent Delecroix (translated by Helen Stevenson)
On the Calculation of Volume I by Solvej Balle (translated by Barbara J. Haveland)
All six authors are shortlisted for the first time. The books in the contest were translated into English and published in the UK and/or Ireland between 1 May 2024 and 30 April 2025. The winner will be announced at a ceremony at Tate Modern, London on Tuesday, 20 May.
