Just A Cherry Of Comedy And Horror On Top Of New Film Releases In March
March is definitely not a month of comedy or horror. Only three movies in each genre present their audience with something funny and something scary. Impossible to explain this phenomenon why certain months are rich with new releases and others are almost out of offer. But less is better than nothing. Especially, if you take animation into account. Thus, take a look at this shortlist (literally speaking):
COMEDY
Plot Synopsis: Gringo joyrides across the border into Mexico, where all is not as it seems for mild-mannered American businessman Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo). Crossing the line from citizen to criminal, Harold tangles with duplicitous business partners, Mexican drug lords, international mercenaries, and the DEA. As he attempts to survive in one of the most dangerous places on earth, the question lingers: is this ordinary man in way over his head, or is he two steps ahead?
Plot Synopsis: Rebellious and quick-witted, 17-year-old firecracker Erica Vandross (Zoey Deutch) kills time with her friends gawking at older men in bowling alleys and sexually scheming guys out of their money. However, her biggest scheme is still to come when her mother asks her boyfriend and his troubled, fresh-out-of-rehab son to move in with them in this biting dark comedy.
Plot Synopsis: Everyone deserves a great love story. But for seventeen-year old Simon Spier (Nick Robinson) it's a little more complicated: he's yet to tell his family or friends he's gay and he doesn't actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he's fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing. A funny and heartfelt coming-of-age story about the thrilling ride of finding yourself and falling in love.
HORROR
Plot Synopsis: A family’s road trip takes a dangerous turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park to stay with some relatives and find it mysteriously deserted. Under the cover of darkness, three masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test the family’s every limit as they struggle to survive.
Plot Synopsis: A frustrated girl (Nicole Munoz) attempts an occult ritual in order to kill her mother, but awakens something sinister in the woods instead.
Plot Synopsis: A young woman (Calire Foy) is involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear. But is it real or is it a product of her delusion?
ANIMATION
Plot Synopsis: In the heart of London, gnomes are disappearing from the gardens. Gnomeo and Juliet join forces with the great Sherlock Gnomes and Watson to discover what is behind the mystery. While tracking down the various leads, Gnomeo and Juliet begin to realize that staying in love may not be as easy as falling in love.
Plot Synopsis: The film tells the story of Atari Kobayashi, 12-year-old ward to corrupt Mayor Kobayashi. When, by Executive Decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to a vast garbage-dump called Trash Island, Atari sets off alone in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop and flies across the river in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of a pack of newly-found mongrel friends, he begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture.
Plot Synopsis: Based on the timeless novel by Jack London, White Fang follows the story of a boy who befriends a half breed wolf as he searches for his father, who has mysteriously gone missing during the Gold Rush.
