Closing The Weekend With January Comedy And Animation
Fading Sunday brings back anxiety and arising stress. Though there's still a bunch of hours to do what you really want to but upcoming Monday morning already shines as a light in the end of a tunnel. Only it doesn't mean salvation. Don't feel like that? You're lucky then. Meanwhile we are scrolling the list of new comedies and animation being released in January, hoping that a mouthful of laughter and kindheartedness prolongs our weekend.
COMEDY
Plot Synopsis: When Dr. Abe Mandelbaum (Martin Landau) moves into the nursing home, Cliffside Manor, with his deteriorating wife Molly, he forms an improbable relationship with gambler and womanizer, Phil Nicoletti (Paul Sorvino). Even though at first Abe feels that moving into the home is the end of the road, he soon realizes that his life is finding a whole new beginning. Abe and Phil's friendship is challenged when a mysterious nurse (Maria Dizzia) claims that her biological father resides in the home. Without children of their own, both Abe and Phil jump at the chance to convince Angela, and themselves, that they are her father.
Plot Synopsis: Inspired by true events, The Polka King tells the story of local Pennsylvania polka legend Jan Lewan (portrayed by Jack Black), who develops a plan to get rich that shocks his fans.

Her plan works smoothly until her sister Gena introduces her to the charming and undefeated women's advocate attorney, Calvin Chesney (Chris Klein). Calvin refuses to believe human connections can be so easily categorized. He challenges Lauren to a competition to prove her theory wrong. He'll pick five of his closest friends to be tempted by Lauren's beautiful bait. If three out of five cheat, Calvin must admit defeat and never speak to Lauren again. But if three out of five resist temptation, Lauren must shut down her blog and date Calvin like a normal person, with no expiration date.

Plot Synopsis: It's Batman vs. Jack the Ripper in an Elseworld's adventure that imagines the Dark Knight over a hundred years ago in a turn-of-the-century Gotham. As Police Commissioner James Gordon tries to calm the fears of Gotham's citizens regarding the butcher called Jack the Ripper, the masked vigilante Batman enacts his own detective work - with the help of confident, capable Selina Kyle - to stop the Ripper's murderous spree.
Plot Synopsis: Swifty the Arctic fox works in the mail room of the Arctic Blast Delivery Service but dreams of one day becoming a Top Dog (the Arctic's star husky couriers). To prove himself worthy of the Top Dog role, Swifty secretly commandeers one of the sleds and delivers a mysterious package to a mysterious location. He stumbles upon a secret fortress where he comes face to face with Doc Walrus, a blubbery evil genius who walks around on mechanical legs and commands a loyal army of oddly polite puffin henchmen. Swifty soon discovers Doc Walrus' plan to melt the polar ice caps and flood the world in order to reign as supreme leader. Now, Swifty has to enlist the help of his friends: PB, an introverted polar bear, Lemmy, a scatterbrained albatross, Sal and Weez, two conspiracy theorist otters and Jade Fox, a tough as nails mechanic.
