La La Land Left No Surprises At Golden Globes 2017

The first sign of Oscars approaching is the award ceremony for the Golden Globes. The year has spun around and here they are - the 74th Golden Globe Awards just given away on Sunday night.

Praised by the critics the musical La La Land by Damien Chazelle has topped by receiving seven nominations and the waiting was just to satisfy the cat's curiosity how many the movie will actually get. The drama category wasn't so obvious with the odds being in favour of at least two movies. Anyway, the whole nominee list as usual pointed towards the probable Oscar nominations.

Well, as predicted, the night went without surprises,except the fact that La La Land managed to break all the records and scoop all seven awards it has been nominated to, including Best Musical or Comedy, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Actor (Musical or Comedy). Thus, it means Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling also won the in advance bets in their categories.

In Drama Motion Picture category Moonlight beat Manchester by the Sea but the Best Actor (Drama) Award went to Casey Affleck from the latter, meanwhile Best Actress in full motion drama became Isabelle Huppert starring in Elle, which in turn was announced the Best Motion Picture in Foreign Language.

In Best Television Series - Drama category the most expensive Netflix TV series The Crown won the prize with Claire Foy also announced the winner in Best Actress TV Drama category. Atlanta dominated the Musical or Comedy list while The People v O.J.Simpson: American Crime Story was awarded as Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. In the same movie category The Night Manager's main acting crew swept the stake, subsequently Tom Hiddleston as Best Actor, Hugh Laurie as Best Supporting Actor and Olivia Colman as Best Supporting Actress.

Zootopia triumphed as Best Animated Motion Picture.
