Universal Sets Release Date for Michael Fassbender's 'The Snowman'
The thriller, based on a Jo Nesbo book, also stars Rebecca Ferguson and Charlotte Gainsbourg and will hit theaters in 2017.
Universal Pictures and Working Title Films on Friday set Oct. 13, 2017 as the release date for The Snowman, the thriller based on a Jo Nesbo book that stars Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (Independence Day: Resurgence).
The film, directed by Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), will start principal photography on Jan. 18 and will shoot entirely on location in Norway in the cities of Oslo and Bergen and Fassbender stars as an elite crime squad’s lead detective who investigates the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter, fearing that an elusive serial killer may be active again. With the help of a recruit, played by Ferguson, the cop must connect decades-old cold cases to the new one.
The Snowman is produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, as well as Robyn Slovo (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and Piodor Gustafsson (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo). The Working Title Films production, in association with Another Park Film, is executive produced by Nesbo, Niclas Salomonsson, Martin Scorsese, Alfredson, Liza Chasin and Amelia Granger.
